The Color box

“Color is relative” Maui, Oakland

This novel and interactive The Colorbox art installation has already appeared at multiple festivals including SOURCE in Maui, Hawaii and Alchemeyez on the Big Island of Hawaii. It is available for hire at corporate events, weddings and any other event that requires a unique splash that creates a fun and educational color environment. It is made up of four high end projectors, one computer,  a 40 foot screen (that wraps an 800 cubic foot frame), infra-red camera, and interactive infra-red LED devices.

From a distance, a cube glows and changes color. Up close, this 10 foot high box has an entrance inviting you to step inside finding yourself without shadows, wrapped in changing color and light. The color of the room is up to you. Pick up an infrared LED (currently embedded in a bionic Barbie) and wave her third eye at the reverse engineered Wii remote control and interact.  A Color Box becomes a light show that is based on the viewers’ activity and educates simple and important color theory. The content of A Color Box is intended to further the understanding of how color relationships become visually stunning.

Ever since taking Dick Nelson’s color course I have been obsessed with color.  Not only did it open me up to seeing color better, it opened me up to seeing the world better. It has made my life richer.
