Because we have depth perception, we can pick up bodies moving in space. That means that your movement, your gestures, your martial arts, your dance, just your presence, generates a response on the screens around you.

The Kinect has been hacked, and while it is possible to do amazing things on your mac, pc or linux computer, you need to know some coding to make it work. Or have good friends who know coding.

Because I’m on the Mac, I’ve started with Quartz Composer and Kineme to get me going. There were lot’s of steps along the way– it’s not easy if you don’t know coding and basic unix.

We are educating people on how color relates so that they might improve their perception of color in everyday life. Who doesn’t want a more colorful life?

Using the eyes as access to transformation, understanding how the interpretation of true color differs from actual color, we heighten perception. By presenting solid fields of color, internal questions of what is real and what exists in consciousness become more lucid.

By incorporating interactivity– body movement being fed back on the screens all around the participant is empowered and engaged.

In this video, we emphasize the power of color relationships.
The narration is provided by a good friend and notable author, speaker and mystic, Jacob Liberman.

Big Thanks to Dave Scruton (Fractal) for running the tech this year for the color box and to Michael Ryals for the tech support.

The step we took up this year was huge. We attempted to incorporate two pieces of technology that within the google sphere, no one else is combining. The goal was to have the content be open platform, any VJ could plug in. The details, essentially, the control of the motion of the visuals would respond to body movement.

I’d say it was a success in terms of understanding what lies ahead. The body interactivity potential is exciting, it fulfills the original vision for the color box. People’s interaction could define the color of the room. Bodies dancing could determine the poetic movement of tracers. Shadow dancing could evolve to moving bodies of light and color.

We had some great guest visuals by VJs Benjamen Christ and Josh Swanson. Fractal held it down most of the nights. The open VJ platform works. As well, the attempt to bring more color and understanding of our eyes to people, by putting them in control became a reality.
